Buttermilk, also in the White River National Forest, is a great choice for beginning skiers, with 24% of the trails rated as "easiest". At the Buttermilk ski resort, guests of Snowmass and Aspen vacation rentals can ski on 44 trails on 435 acres, served by nine lifts with a capacity of 7,500 skiers an hour. Buttermilk has 108 acres of snowmaking capacity and also boasts two terrain parks and a superpipe.

At Snowmass ski resort, guests of Snowmass lodging will find 88 downhill runs on 3,128 acres, with the longest run measuring more than five miles in length. The resort's 22 lifts can carry 27,181 riders hourly. Guests of Snowmass vacation rentals can choose from trails rated as 6% easiest, 50% more difficult, 12% most difficult and 32% expert.
